Our story

Business is about people

GTA Equipment Rentals is owned and run by two brothers, Achille and Wess, out of the yard at 1429 Speers Road in Oakville. We supply commercial and residential rental equipment to contractors, landscapers, builders and municipalities across the Greater Toronto Area, no matter the size of the project.

Family owned means the owners are on the floor. When you call the yard, you're talking to the people whose name is on the door, not a call centre reading off a screen.

Read our Google reviews and you'll notice something unusual: customers thank our people by name. Achille and Wess. That's what eighteen years of picking up the phone, showing up on time, and standing behind every machine looks like.

Every piece of equipment is inspected after every rental and maintained on a strict schedule, because a machine that breaks down on your site costs you a crew's day, and we take that personally.

Off the clock, we're a proudly Canadian shop that puts back into the place we work: sponsoring local teams and supporting community events around Oakville and the GTA.

Since 2008

Built from the ground up

GTA Equipment Rentals started in 2008 with a single Bobcat and no guarantee it would work. Eighteen years on it supplies contractors, builders and municipalities across the GTA, still owned and run by the two brothers who bought that first machine.

  1. 2008

    It started with one Bobcat

The first machine was a Bobcat 763, bought on the bet that there was room for a rental company that kept its equipment right and answered the phone. It went straight to work. One machine became two, and two became a fleet.

  2. 2008–2015

Learning the business the slow way

The early years were unglamorous. Delivering machines, fixing them, answering the phone, and putting whatever came in back into more equipment.

As demand grew the fleet moved past skid steers into wider construction and landscaping gear, serving Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga and the rest of the GTA.

  3. 2016–2019

    Recognised outside the yard

In 2019 Canadian Rental Service named Wess one of Canada’s Top 10 Under 40 rental professionals, eleven years after that first Bobcat.

By then GTA wasn’t a side bet any more. It was an established independent rental company.

  4. 2018

    A second location in Burlington

GTA opened a Burlington shop, putting machines and a counter closer to customers on the Halton side of the service area.

  5. 2018–2021

    More than a rental company

GTA partnered with Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin, supplying equipment for local home builds.

Around the same time the fleet passed 40 pieces of large construction equipment.

  6. 2023–2024

    Looking past the rental counter

Achille started writing for the American Rental Association on how rental businesses can actually use AI and analytics day to day, rather than just talk about them.

In 2024 Canadian Rental Service profiled the company and the brothers behind it in “Opportunity Seized”.

  7. 2025–2026

    Investing in the fleet

A major round of fleet expansion: new earthmoving, aerial, material-handling and specialised machines, plus the trucks and systems to move them.

The point was never owning more equipment. It was being able to take on bigger contractors and more complicated jobs without the service slipping.

  8. 2026

    Representing the industry

Achille appeared on The Rental Journal Podcast, recorded at the 2026 ARA Show, on how rental operators can put AI and better data to practical use.

Later that year he was selected as the American Rental Association’s nominee for Canadian Region Director.

  9. Today

    Still owner operated

The fleet is bigger and the technology has changed, but the job hasn’t. Know your customers, keep the machines right, answer the phone, and deliver when you said you would.

Eighteen years after that first Bobcat, GTA is still independently owned and still run out of the yard on Speers Road.
